The third edition of E2 Forum China wrapped up successfully in Shanghai

23 Jul 2024

Shanghai, 23 July 2024. The third edition of E2 Forum China concluded successfully on 10 July 2024 in Shanghai. Revolving around elevator renovation, as well as operation and maintenance management, industry players gathered around to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the development of the elevator industry. This annual forum received wide acclaim from the industry, attracting 165 professionals to participate. The event effectively promoted the exchange of knowledge around elevator renovation and maintenance technologies, fostering the implementation of the government’s energy conservation and carbon reduction policies in the building sector.

China’s State Council recently issued an action plan that prioritises energy conservation and carbon reduction in the building sector. Furthermore, there is rising concern around the safety and stability of elevators given the increasing frequency of usage. As such, elevator renovation as well as operation and maintenance management have become key focus areas. To improve public safety and people’s quality of life, ageing and high-risk residential elevators require urgent renovation. High-quality maintenance services can ensure elevator safety, extend their lifespans, improve user satisfaction, and reduce breakdowns, providing robust urban vertical transportation in every building.

Against this backdrop, this edition of E2 Forum China converged leading companies and experts, delving deep into important topics such as green buildings, elevator renovations, digital operation management and maintenance, supporting the sustainable development of the elevator industry. The forum also served as a bridge for communication and cooperation between leading businesses and the academic community, promoting the coordinated development of the elevator industry in terms of policy formulation, technological innovation, and market application.

Ms Lucia Wong, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said: “We have the honour of inviting representatives from leading brands and experts from the elevator industry and related fields to this edition of E2 Forum China. Focusing on fostering elevator renovation and empowering building maintenance and operation management, this forum provided a platform for the exchange of knowledge and expertise, showcasing innovative technologies and sharing experiences to shape the future direction of the elevator industry. Experts delved into the trends and challenges around elevator renovation and explored innovative technologies to enhance performance, safety, and cost-efficiency. They also discussed innovative building management models, successful case studies, as well as digital and smart technology approaches to achieve efficient operations. We hope that E2 Forum China can inject new vitality and innovative ideas into the fields of elevator renovation and building management and drive the sustainable development of the entire industry, fostering a safer, smarter, and more efficient building environment.”

Topics at this forum included how digital tools can improve the efficiency of building management, thoughts on elevator maintenance quality and market control, and the intelligent and digital operations of buildings and elevators. Additionally, there was a roundtable discussion on the pain points and solutions for elevator renovation projects.

Mr Tao Chen, R&D Technical Director of Midea Building Technology Elevator Company, delivered a speech at the forum. He shared his opinions on the future development of elevator industry: “The future of the elevator industry will centre around the advancements in digitalisation, intelligence, sustainability, safety and comfort, as well as service-offering and customisation. These elements are all integral to the smart transformation and digitalisation of buildings. The elevator industry will embrace unprecedented growth opportunities brought by the rapid development of information technology and the global wave of digital transformation.”

Mr Jiaming Zhou, Director of BEAM Society Limited, was one of the speakers at the forum who commented: “This forum has provided a valuable platform for manufacturers, service providers and building owners, fostering deeper B2B partnerships, as well as opening new B2C channels to engage with the public on the topics of elevator technologies, maintenance and optimisation. We appreciate the efforts of the organiser, and look forward to seeing the forum continue advancing the industry, strengthening B2B and B2C connections, benefiting more people with better solutions for the sector.”

In addition, Mr Jianxin Ma, Head of Digital Product Management of Greater China at KONE Elevators International (China) Limited commented: “We strongly support the smart and digital transformation of buildings. This is reflected not only in our provision of more differentiated renovation solutions, but also in the way we deliver superior products and maintenance services. We believe that elevators will become more intelligent with every elevator being fully connected to the cloud in the future. Digitalisation represents more than a tool or a solution, but rather a new business model. Looking forward, the proportion of software, data and artificial intelligence will continue growing within the elevator R&D domain.”
